On Thursday 6th January the morning started off with what sounded like a shot gun being fired just outside the main office, followed by an eerie silence whilst people anticipated what was to happen next.
Was it gun fire? Fortunately not! It was one of the very large tyres on the hoist bursting under the pressure of carrying one of our largest boats to be launched. These tyre are similar to the tyre you would find on a large aircraft and are capable of withstanding a lot of pressure but this one had given up!
The boat in the hoist at the time was unharmed and was quickly shored up so the replacement tyre could be fitted.
An exciting start to yet another day at the harbour!
